The aim is to help patients monitor and improve their management of asthma. We would encourage all patients with asthma to have an asthma check appointment annually even if you feel well. (Patients should be contacted and offered an appointment). Please make an appointment with the asthma nurse at reception if you feel it needs to be sooner or if advised by your GP.
Cardiovascular Disease Clinic (CVD)
Generally held Thursday afternoons, run by practice nurses Alison/Angie or Dr Moore on an appointment basis.
A full contraception service is available at the surgery including oral contraceptive pills, vaginal rings, patches and long acting forms of contraception (LARCS). These include; intrauterine devices (coils), Depo-Provera injections and implants under the skin (Nexplanon).
Please make an appointment with the Practice Nurse for repeat pill and HRT checks, repeat Depo-Provera injections or general contraceptive advice. Please make an appointment with a doctor if you wish to start a new contraceptive. Dr Smellie fits the Intrauterine devices and Implants at the surgery.
Please ask for a same day appointment if you require emergency contraception. Young people can be reassured that anything discussed in the surgery will remain completely confidential.
COPD Clinic (Spirometry)
The clinic is run by a practice nurse and primarily helps patients monitor and improve their management of COPD.
Usually held Wednesday afternoons and run by the practice nurses Alison or Angie in conjunction with Dr Tim Hardwick. Your care may be solely managed by the surgery or shared with the hospital.
Our practice Nurses provide an ear syringing service at the surgery providing you have put olive oil drops in your ear/s for the 10-14 days before your syringing appointment.
Each autumn we provide influenza vaccination for all patients over the age of 65 and all susceptible patients under the age of 65 as directed by the Department of Health. Dates of vaccinations will be posted at the surgery. Please check with the receptionists from September onwards.
NHS Health Checks (Vascular Screening)
Everyone aged between 40 and 74 years with no chronic illness will receive an invitation for a free NHS healthcheck at the surgery in due course. You will receive a questionnaire with the invitation and information on how to book the appointment. (This service is currently unavailable, as soon as these appointments can be offered, patients will be contacted),
Dr Whybrew runs a skin clinic on Wednesday afternoons. This involves doing minor surgery procedures on patients she has already seen and assessed.

Smoking Cessation Clinic
If you wish to stop smoking, we run a clinic to help. Please ask the nurse on your next visit or contact our reception desk.
If you are going abroad, the Practice Nurses can give appropriate advice and arrange necessary vaccinations. Please contact us in plenty of time (at least 6 weeks) prior to travel. You can also refer to the Travel Information tab qabove for more details. Any patient who has not had tetanus vaccine in the last 10 years should make an appointment to see the practice nurse.
Well Baby Clinic
Takes place at Bishops Cleeve Community Centre (next to the library). Held every alternate Wednesday 11:00am-12:30pm by the Health Visiting Service. No appointment needed, just pop in. (Health Visiting Service, Tewkesbury Community Clinic, tel no. 0300 421 6166).
