Getting your test results
If your test was requested by someone at the hospital (even if a sample was taken at the surgery)
Hospital test results are not automatically sent to the GP practice, and if you are chasing up results that have been requested by the hospital, please contact
- Your consultant or their secretary, or relevant specialist nurses
- Patient advice and liaison service on 0800 019 3282 (Monday – Friday 9am to 4pm, you may need to leave a message on the answerphone) or at Gloucestershire Hospitals: Patient advice and support
If your test was requested by someone at the surgery
Please note, we request that you do not assume that a result is normal if we do not contact you. The surgery will contact you if there is a significant problem with your results, but please check all your results because the GP may have made some suggestions or advice based on your results even if there is not a significant problem.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your Systmonline account
- by phoning us on 01242 672 007 and we will tell you what the results are
Questions about your results
If you want to talk to someone about your results, fill out a test results request form and someone will be in touch.
The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
Please ring 01242 672007 between 2pm and 5pm for test results.

Please note the time scale for results to be sent back to the surgery may vary depending on where the test was taken.
Specimens
Please only bring in specimens that have been requested by a clinician. You will need to complete a specimen details form and place with your sample in the clear bag provided.
If your sample is incorrectly labelled, it will be rejected by the laboratory and need to be repeated. All specimens need your first name, surname, date of birth and date of specimen written on them.
When handing in your sample, please inform a member of reception and wait until you are asked to place your sample in the specimen box. (Please note the receptionists are not allowed to handle any specimens).
Sample bottles
- White top (small) – For an ACR (early morning sample), attending a diabetic clinic or if asked to provide a sample by a GP/nurse or hospital request.
- Red top – If you think you have a UTI (Urinary tract infection), and you have been asked to provide a sample for dipping or to send to the lab for analysis.
- Blue top – Stool sample for infections
