Patient Participation Group

A group of volunteer patients, carers and surgery staff who meet regularly to discuss and support the running of the surgery.

Patient Participation Groups look at the services offered, patient experience and how improvements can be made for the benefit of everyone.

Each Patient Participation Group is different, but they all have the aim of making sure that the surgery puts the patient, and improving health, at the heart of everything it does.

The current PPG members are

  • Ian White – acting chairman
  • John Coopey – treasurer
  • Jenny Crowston – secretary
  • Peggy Dyer
  • Anne Ayrton
  • Lynne Jackson
  • Peter Badham
  • Alison Hopton
  • Kshiraja Dighe
  • Marie Brain
  • Santoke Naal
  • John Grayson

The Patients Participation Group works together with the practice staff to share ideas, offer the patient perspective and help to improve the services offered by the practice.

It is affiliated as a member of the National Association for Patient Participation (NAPP). The NAPP website has a lot of information about Patient Participation Groups and a link to the monthly NAPP ebulletins.

Support

As the NHS begins to recover from the ravages of Covid-19 it is really important that the doctors and staff of our surgeries have the support of their patients.

Surgeries must negotiate the minefield of putting in place revised procedures for consultations, tackle a backlog of casework while at the same time introducing new services.

Patient Participation Groups aim to contribute to the improvement of services and quality of care for all patients by working closely with, and representing your views to, your practice. The most effective way you can help is by contacting the Patient Participation Group at your surgery.
